Liberals and Atheists Have Above Average IQs!

Don't You Love It!

When this story first broke Yesterday in all of the Major News Outlets.  Well, needless to say, I was Pleased as Punch!

I was even more Delighted this Morning when I opened an e-mail from my Niece Irene, who lives in the Pacific Northwest.  She was sending me a CNN News link to this very story.  In it, she gleefully explained.  Eddie, I thought you might appreciate this.  - And You Bet I Do.

My Niece is so Bright, Beautiful and Perceptive!  I just can't help but wonder where she gets it from? :)

In case you haven't seen it yet.  Here's the basic report...

Liberalism, atheism, male sexual exclusivity linked to IQ

(CNN) -- Political, religious and sexual behaviors may be reflections of intelligence, a new study finds.

Evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa at the the London School of Economics and Political Science correlated data on these behaviors with IQ from a large national U.S. sample and found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs. This applied also to sexual exclusivity in men, but not in women. The findings will be published in the March 2010 issue of Social Psychology Quarterly.

Thank You for Sending Me This Irene - You Made My Day!

Of course this story should be no great surprise, since we have always known...

Most of the Great Minds in Math, Science and Philosophy, Have Been Liberals, Agnostics, Atheists, Non-Theists and Secular Humanists.

  1. I totally get it, you get it, Irene gets it. Hell, most Liberals, Agnostics, Atheists, Non-Theists and Secular Humanists get it and can relate.
Herein lies the irony, it simply brings light to the fact that those that would benefit by getting in, the Conservatives and Religious Fundamentalists simply have no chance of grasping this concept.
This study simply confirms that it requires half a brain and logical thinking to understand it, thus eliminating the poor beasts from its message.( I almost said souls.)
Now, as for male sexual exclusivity, I can only speak for myself, over the past four decades, outside of a few drunken indiscretions, I have had sex with males exclusively. That is not to say that they have all been exclusive though, in fact most of them were downright pigs, just how I like them.

  2. Been watching the Olympics. Now I'm getting back to e-mails.
    I read your latest blogs.

I enjoy Billy's comments. Like you, I find him to be "witty, clever,
bright and insightful." Like him, I know I'm not as astute or informed
as you are about politics and current events. I do watch C-SPAN, FOX
CNN and even MSNBC. And yes, I did watch the 6 plus hours of the
Health Care Summit. Also watched the debates yesterday between
    Bunning, Reids, Durbin etc.

However, I find that at times I have to get away
from Iraq, global warming and health care etc. Or, like Billy said," I'd
probably have a meltdown." At those times, I turn to other things like:

Who has the immunity idol in "Survivors?"
Who will be the next American Idol?"
What are "The Housewives of New Jersey " fighting about?
And instead of watching Wolf Blitzer in "The Situation Room" I turn
to see what "The Situation" in "The Jersey Shore" is up to.

About Joseph Stack, I liked the thoughtful and sensitive comments
    that Billy and Emma made.
To his daughter he was a"hero"( later retracted), to the son of the man
that died he was a "terrorist".
Who knows the Why's of this world?

We had a beautiful snow storm last week in this part of our world.

On the news a story came on about how a man that had been walking
in Central Park had been killied by a branch that broke off a tree.

    Why?

    Love and Life,
    Apple

    PS.
Will be watching the Oscars and rooting for Meryl Streep in
    "Julia, Julia".

    Love and ladles,
    Apple

  3. Hi Apple Annie, it's so very good to hear from you again and welcome back to my little piece of the blogosphere. I really appreciated your comments by the way and everything you said about Billy is true. He's become a very special friend over the years.

I just got home from spending the afternoon and evening with Esther (another dear and special friend). We did our weekly dinner and a movie thing. So now I finally managed to see all of the major nominated films. Just in time to blog about my favorite movies of the year. And of course do some Oscar picks before Sunday night.

Today we saw "The Last Station" which is the story of the Russian author Leo Tolstoy's final years. Helen Mirren played the Countess Tolstoy and received a best actress nomination for her role. And while she was good. I'm not sure that I just witnessed an Oscar-Winning performance. I'm glad I saw it though. She was the only major nominee I hadn't seen yet and I didn't want to make any Oscar picks or predictions without seeing them all.

I'm trying to pick my 10 favorite films of the year for a blog post. But, I'm really having a hard time narrowing it down to just 10. It's an arbitrary number anyway, so don't be surprised if I end up with a few more.
